STORY WRITTEN FOR & USED WITH PERMISSIONPosted: October 26, 2004PASADENA, Calif. - NASA's Cassini spacecraft streaked by Saturn's smoggy moon Titan today, targeted to pass within just 750 miles of the planet-sized satellite to give scientists their first detailed glimpse of a world that, until now, has been shrouded in mystery.Moving through space at some 14,000 mph, Cassini made its closest approach to Titan at 12:44 p.m. EDT, using the moon's gravity to change its trajectory slightly for another Titan flyby Dec. 13.Today's encounter, the first of 45 Titan flybys planned over the course of Cassini's four-year primary mission, occurred while the $3 billion spacecraft was out of contact with flight controllers at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif.The high-gain dish antenna normally used to communicate with Earth was aimed instead at Titan for cloud-piercing synthetic aperture radar observations. Those images, along with other radar data and high-resolution visible, infrared and ultraviolet observations, should resolve long standing questions about Titan, including whether the moon harbors standing lakes or pools of liquid ethane and hydrocarbon sludge.But Cassini will not turn its high-gain antenna back toward Earth and begin playing back recorded data until late this evening. It will take those radio signals, traveling 186,000 miles per second, one hour and 14 minutes to reach NASA's Deep Space Network antennas some 826 million miles away.The first low-resolution pictures are expected to begin showing up around 9:40 p.m. High-resolution imagery will reach Earth starting around 12:51 a.m. Wednesday, with narrow-angle resolutions of a tenth of a mile per pixel. That will improve to 17 feet per pixel when the highest resolution pictures flow in around 2:40 a.m.Data playback will end at 5:22 a.m. and Cassini will make this orbit's closest approach to Saturn at 7:33 a.m.A timeline of major events that includes the number of images expected from the narrow- and wide-angle cameras (in EDT; resolution in statute miles) is available .Along with collecting priceless imagery and data about Titan, today's encounter, known as Titan A or TA for short, also collected critical atmospheric data that will be used to determine just how close Cassini can safely pass during upcoming flybys.That same data also will shed light on what Cassini's Huygens probe can expect when it slams into the atmosphere of Titan Jan. 14.Built by the European Space Agency, Huygens will descend by parachute all the way to the moon's surface, using a suite of instruments to probe its environment. Data will be relayed back to Earth by Cassini, which will be flying past at the same time.The density of Titan's atmosphere, however, is a critical factor in the Huygens' descent. The probe is scheduled to be released from Cassini on Christmas Eve and depending on what today's TA flyby data show, engineers could elect to make slight changes to its trajectory.The data were considered so vital that engineers programmed playback through two DSN ground stations to ensure successful capture.Along with characterizing the moon's atmosphere, Cassini also was programmed to photograph the Huygens landing site at a resolution of .62 miles per pixel, hopefully providing insights into what the probe can expect when it reaches the surface in January.Cassini braked into orbit around Saturn the night of June 30, firing its main engine for a nerve-wracking 96.4 minutes. Another long rocket firing in late August raised the low point of Cassini's orbit and set the stage for an extended voyage of discovery.Equipped with state-of-the-art telescopes, an imaging radar system and a battery of other powerful instruments, Cassini will spend at least four years orbiting the sixth planet from the sun, studying its rings in unprecedented detail, making high-resolution movies of its windy atmosphere, charting its magnetic field and mapping a host of icy moons.Titan will get special treatment. Bigger than Mercury and Pluto, Titan is the only moon in the solar system with a thick atmosphere, one in which hydrocarbons fall as rain and liquid ethane pools on its ultra-cold surface. "On that world, the distant sun is never seen and at high noon, things are no brighter than a partly moonlit night on the Earth."Because of its great distance, the cold is so enormous that water is always frozen out of the atmosphere. Nitrogen is nearly so, but not quite. And the simplest organic molecule, methane, is there to take the place of water as a cloud former, possibly a rain maker and maybe even the stuff of lakes or seas of hydrocarbons."The methane is lofted hundreds of miles above the surface of this world," Lunine said before Cassini's launch in 1997. "It's cracked open by sunlight and cosmic rays and a menagerie of more complicated organics is produced from the methane and these then float down to the surface to accumulate over time, perhaps to depths of hundreds of meters or more. Volcanism and impacts shape the surface and provide energy to make ever more complex organic molecules in a planet-wide tapestry that is an organic chemist's dream."What I have described to you is Titan, the second largest moon in the solar system, nearly the largest. It was partly revealed to us by Voyager 1 in 1980. Through its many instruments, Voyager discovered and characterized a dense atmosphere around this cold world. Yet ... Voyager's cameras could not penetrate the organic haze and so we still do not know what awaits Cassini-Huygens at the end of its journey."But in the years since Cassini's launch, optical and radar observations from Earth have given scientists at least a hint of what the spacecraft might find. Scientists are convinced lakes or small oceans of liquid hydrocarbons exist on Titan, but not a globe-spanning sea. One way or the other, Cassini and Huygens should resolve the matter."Titan is almost certainly not the home of life today," Lunine said. "But the organic chemical cycles that go on may constitute a chemical laboratory for replaying some of the steps that led to life on Earth. Cassini mission scientists hope to determine the exact composition of this material. This image also offers a preview of the detailed survey Cassini will conduct on the planet's dazzling rings. Slight differences in color denote both differences in ring particle composition and light scattering properties. Images taken through blue, green and red filters were combined to create this natural color view. The image scale is 132 kilometers (82 miles) per pixel. The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. So there was this guy that I used to know, we were friends. He was the best friend of one of my ex boyfriends. Anyway, last night I dreamed that he, name's Adam by the way, turned up on my doorstep asking me to hide him. So i did, I hid him in the storage area underneath our house. Then some scary men turned up and banged on the door. I refused to let them in and when they demanded I hand over Adam I pretended to not know what they were talking about. When they started describing him I was just all like "Oh yeah him, he hasn't really spoken to me since his best mate dumped me". Then when they started getting really scary (thumping fists on the door frame) I called the police. Then when the police responded, pretty quickly, they took the men away in handcuffs. Then I went back to Adam and found him curled up in a ball staring at the wall. He mumbled something about a demon and I turned around and saw it too. Then I straightened and said "I, the Descended One, command you to return to you Hellish dimension". They disappeared and I helped Adam up then out into the proper part of the house. Then he hugged me, really tightly and he said thank you. He was really dusty/dirty so I told him to have a shower. I got him like a towel and stuff as he followed me around, and then as I gave him everything and went to leave he grabbed my hand and asked me not to leave him. So i sat on the closed toilet lid looking at the mirror while he had a shower. When he was done he wrapped the towel around himself and came over to me and teasingly commented that I wasn't looking. I told him I thought he'd been through enough for one night without being watched by me. Then he got dressed and we went upstairs to the lounge room where he explained to mum and me that the men were after him because he'd stepped in and stopped them when they were trying to rape a girl. Mum said that it was time for bed and asked me to help her get some blankets and the spare mattress out for Adam. But I pointed out to her that doing that would wake up my brothers (even though after sleeping through all of that I doubt they would have been woken by something like that). So after my pointing out to mum that I have slept beside male friends and done nothing with them it was decided that Adam would sleep in my room. So we went downstairs and mum went to bed. Adam took the stuff out of his pockets and put it all on my bedside table then hopped into my bed. I got in beside him and he wrapped his arms around me after he turned out the lamp. He whispered "Thank you, I didn't really want to be alone". I replied "I know". And then I snuggled into him and we went to sleep. When I woke up in the dream he was already awake and I was still lying in his arms. He started to thank me for the night before but I put a finger on his lips and said "Don't ruin it". He smiled and just held me. Suddenly there was a knock on the door and mum came in to find me still seemingly asleep snuggled into Adam and him awake with his arm around me. She just asked how he slept and he told her fairly well and that I hadn't stirred during the night. Mum said how that was good then left. When she was gone I shared a smile with him then he leaned in slightly and kissed me! Then he whispered "I've been wanting to do that almost since I first met you". I smiled and then the dream kind of faded out.

Starts with my friend and I at his house by the forest, taking and saying good bye he was going oversea with his platoon. When we huged the picture widened my parents, his parents and his company came, he joined them. Knowing he was leavind soon I caaled to him askinf dor his address so I mailhim. He di s nt give itto me so his mom called me over told me ahell get Iit for en me and left to go to the house. I truned to follow her as that happen my friend graped my shoulderans turned me to face him. He looked at me condescendly then told me where I can reach him. He shock my hand then rejoined his platoon. The marched into the forest I turned to my family then turned backto my friend and ran after him. Then I was runnjng thourgh his company.

I dreamt that I was in a room with golden, shining bricks all around it. Also in this room, there was a rather large window that went down to the floor. And out this window, revealed the beautiful, blue sky and the bright sun. I wasn't sure where the window went down to, but I felt as if I was very much raised upon the ground, as if my golden-bricked chamber was part of a canyon. I was feeling very warm, almost hot, probably because of the sun's powerful light. And by this low window, I saw hair of my color (dark blond) by my feet. Then, I felt as if someone was pulling on my hair, and I tried to grasp the hair that was closer to my head so it wouldn't hurt as much. Next, someone was standing in the window. It was a boy that looked about eighteen years old. He had a very pale face and pale blue eyes. He had dark blonde hair like me (but it was short!). He smiled lovingly at me, and walked right up to me. He said "I love you. You mean the world to me." or something like that. The next minute, he took me into his arms and kissed me romantically on the lips. I was shocked at first, then I found myself putting my arms around him too, accepting his kiss. The kiss lasted for several minutes it seems. Then, he released his arms from me, and then, smiling brightly and lovingly at me again, he stepped away and descended from my room. I think that I was Rapunzel and that that boy was the Prince.

I was from school going home.i met my younger sister going to the shopping center.i asked her how is home and she said that demons were stealing from them.on reaching home, i found my other sister and cousin.as we were talking, there was a big flash on the sky and on the sky appeared seven images.they were sculptures of the ancient and they stood in descending order.the seventh one resembled my cousin with a shawl around her neck.inside our house,my mother was suffering.she said that her genitals were so painful as though it had fire.i decided to pray but i could not.i tried but when i managed to,i woke up

This is the 4th time I've had a re-occuring setting inside a dream. Even though it was the same place every time, different things happened within each dream. The setting is my workplace, only it is not. My workplace is a warehouse set in a metropolitan area that looks of a neon, brightly colored downtown area. It doesn't look as intense as Las Vegas; more of a New York with neon signs feel. The majority of the dream is spent inside of a mall; connected to my work. I have now been here 4 times in four different dreams so I am starting to know my way around it. Every time my dream starts I am running to work but I have plenty of time to get there. The reason I'm being so rushed is to go to this bar before I start work. The bar is like a luxurious hotel bar, complete with a golden awning and load and unloading area in the very back of the mall. The place is very fancy, from the inside out. It's very beautiful and fairly busy, along with the entire setting of the mall. For the fourth time now I've gone there to sneak two beers in before I start my shift. They make you buy tickets and you turn in those tickets to get glasses of whatever you want. I usually get a dark red IPA there. Every time I've had this dream, I've met this girl there that was very friendly to me. She'd engage in most of the conversation, she would approach me instead of the other way around, and we'd talk until I had to leave. She's very beautiful but she's also imperfect. She doesn't look like a model or a celebrity that's too attractive to obtain but she instead has a homely, yet very attractive look. Blonde, petite, and most of her facial features looks to be of European decent. This time around she came up and talked to me yet again. She also have evening bar attire on that fits the atmosphere of the bar even though it is always in the morning. She had a friend of hers with her this time that I never met previously until this dream. Unlike real life, she wasn't very judgmental or condescending to me like most girls are when there friends are approached by men. She seemed just as bubbly and happy to be around me as the girl I kept meeting. By the end of it, we went outside and it was fairly cold out, way too cold for what there were wearing. This is where I finally got the nerve to get her number. My phone isn't a smartphone so it takes awhile to enter somebody's number. She and her friend patiently waited even though it took a long time until I entered her number. Her area code was either 625 or 652...I looked these up and they do not exist. Aside from that, this was also the first time I found out her name, which was just as weird as the area code. Her name was Lythmia. Upon looking up that name, that seems to be some weird connection to Thor and Loki and I am not familiar with those in the slightest. The other spelling it could be, Lithmia, is a medical condition where too much acid is being developed in the blood. I don't know what that could mean.

I was driving down a road, suddenly there was a sharp left turn. I realized I can't make that turn so I surrendered peacefully to the inevitable and let the car go over the cliff. It descended into a canyon and turned upside down. When it was about to hit the ground I woke up.

I was climbing some open tread stairs to a bridge. There were clothes hung on the treads and I picked them up as I helped a child to climb ahead of me. I got to the other side of the bridge and the stairs there were made of bamboo. It was shaky but I plucked up the courage and descended anyway because I believed that there was no other way to get down.

I was running from what seemed to be a devil chasing me,I ran through alleys and buildings trying to outwit and get away. I ran till i reached a ocean or lake of water and couldn't run no more and turned and faced him, he grab me and threw me into the ground were i descended into darkness with paralyzing fear.
