I am a frequent 'epic dreamer'; and have more recently experienced 'lucid dreams' where I can change, or manipulate, my dream to my own liking. These dreams are sweeping and beautiful, massive in scale, and can feature mountain ranges, valleys, vast moorlands, oceans, islands, lonely beaches or beautiful villages in the snow. They seem to go on for hours, uninterrupted, and I can recall every single detail for years afterwards. They all, without exception, feature an enormous house (different every time) and nearly all feature sex with an unknown man, who is always different and doesn't look like anyone I know. The house is always huge, isolated, gothic, empty, mostly derelict, with hundreds of rooms and the dream predominantly features me, either alone or with this man, discovering rooms. I am always excited, sometimes sexually exicted in these houses; somewhere in the dream is the knowledge that the house belongs to me and I'm discovering it for the first, most exciting, time, and deciding what I can do with it. I explore attics, cellars, staircases and bedrooms, but I always seems to linger for a long time by windows, gazing longingly out the the incredible view, or by enormous fireplaces, looking into the flames. Sometimes the house is truly derelict and haunted but I'm not scared, just in awe of its beauty and amount of rooms. There is always a very lucid feeling of real excitement in the dream and this usually turns to sexual excitement as the man in the dream makes his move on me. It can be incredibly intense and romantic, and the feeling stays with me for days or weeks. Sometimes years! Less frequently (once a month maybe) I feel such intense grief in a dream I wake up with my pillow wet and I'm depressed for days. Yet I never know why I was grieving. The only feeling that remains with me is that I've lost something and can never find it ever again. Sometimes in my dream I decide it's not romantic or gorgeous enough, and I can go back and change the crucial scene to my liking. I am even discussing this in my dream with myself, saying 'hang on - I could have been more heroic or powerful in that scene. Let's go back and do it again'. So I do, but improve on the outcome. All my dreams are so beautiful, and so epic in scale and emotion, that they exhaust me and real life seems very dull and ugly and unromantic in comparison.

I was in prison for some reason but didn't think I deserved to be there. Outside the prison grounds were a lot like a school yard. There were two soccer fields, one small one normal sized with a track around it. They were on the left side of a clearing and above the small field was a jungle gym. I was put into the section for dangerous people because of a failed escape attempt (I think). The others and I made a plan to escape. The guards had this spray stuff that knocked you out if you breathed it in. Somehow I got a hold of some and used it to help get away. We took over a large orange and other coloured van and got away but only after I inhaled some of that spray. I was unconscious for two days according to the man I asked but everything had changed so much that it felt more like two years. In that time my friend found a new friend which made me feel lonely. For some reason, my brother, father and I were checking in on the cottage. Up in the loft we somehow transported to the edge of a city on a coast. Alone in the city, I was trying to use a pay phone. There was a long line and I pretended to know someone so I could cut in. The line seemed to disappear and I struggled to count out ten pennies which at first had stars instead of leaves on them. The guards showed up (about twelve) and an epic, manga or cartoon like battle occurred. I even thought that I was probably dreaming or imagining the battle because of how ridiculous it was so I decided to stop it. I was captured in the end and hooked up to a lie detector where I was uncooperative. A lady wearing a suit interrupted the interrogation for some reason. My perspective changed to a fly on the wall style. The same lady went to the dangerous people section and shot the guards with a pulse gun then shot the cell bars. She said for the men to come with her and with knowing grins they jumped right through the bars. The other men also attempted to do this but just hurt their shoulders. I somehow knew that this was part of a growing conspiracy. Strangely, at one point I was trying to jump on a moving train in my front entrance way. I knew there was actually no train so I pretended to jump on it and moved into the living room to take my seat in the box car.

I'm in an epic sword battle dressed as a knight all in black. People fighting all around me. A knight dressed in gold approaches me. We start to fight. My sword engulfed in blue flame his in red flame. We almost know what each other were going to do before we did it. Wounding each other badly as many of my allies fell. I look around and feel like all is lost. As someone cries out "SAINT" I respond with a roaring battle cry, raising my sword then dropping to my knees and plugging the sword straight into the earth. Right after this happened an explosion goes off that opens the earth. I pan out to see a huge mushroom cloud then pan back in to see the earth open swallowing my enemies army whole. Everything goes black as I start to wake up to see my closest allies standing next to me. My breathing was shallow I knew I was dyeing as said a few things to my friends then close my eyes....and the dream is over.

I dreamed I placed my dear three year old niece on the toilet and flushed before she was securely seated-- causing her to be sucked into the toilet. I was fiercely yanking her out as the water was drowning her...I managed to pull her completely out of the toilet but she wasn't breathing. I was completely hysterical and began to do everything to bring her breath back. Fortunately there were extended family members nearby who were able to save her. I tend to dream a lot about my niece, specifically events that depict me being responsible for some sort unintentional neglect that causes her physical pain-- like the various dreams Ive had of dropping her when she was an infant.
