My friend (female) in real life was forced to marry a man she didn't want to by the man. Everyone knew it was wrong, everyone saw him being abusive and said nothing. When it came to the wedding day my female friend seemed to become male in appearance. After some time I witnessed her partner being physically abusive and see looked at me with despair I couldn't stand it any longer and stepped in.
